immigrantsThe White House made it crystal-clear today that the majority of unaccompanied minors attempting to cross the border will be deported. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Monday that “most” will not qualify for humanitarian relief and, as a result, will be sent back to their native countries.

Earnest’s comments were stronger than his remarks Sunday on NBC’sMeet the Press, when he said “We are looking at ways to create additional options for dealing with the children in particular, consistent with our laws and our values.”

On Tuesday, the White House will formally ask Congress for $2 billion to help combat the surge of unaccompanied minors attempting to illegally enter the U.S. More than 52,000 unaccompanied minors have been apprehended this year alone. Read more at The Washington Post.
