There is cautious optimism regarding the condition of Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, who remains hospitalized at the Intensive Care Unit at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center in Bnei Brak, where he is under the close watch of physicians.

This morning, Rav Shteinman’s personal doctor, Dr. Avrohom Weinberg, said that overnight and today the rosh yeshiva’s health improved slightly.

The 103-year-old rosh yeshiva has been hospitalized for more than a week in the intensive care unit for pneumonia and general weakness.

Meanwhile, in light of the medical concerns surrounding Rav Shteinman, gedolei Torah have issued a public call in the US to daven to arouse Hashem’s mercy for his complete recovery.

A letter signed by Rav Dovid Feinstein, rosh yeshiva of Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim; Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky, rosh yeshiva of Philadelphia Yeshiva; Rav Avrohom Chaim Levin, rosh yeshiva of Telshe Yeshiva in Chicago; and the Novominsker Rebbe, Rav Yaakov Perlow, states, “In light of the alarming medical condition of Maran Rav Aharon Leib ben Gittel Faiga Shteinman, we join the request of Rav Chaim Kanievsky and other gedolei Eretz Yisroel to daven, even on Shabbos, in public, to be meorer rachamim for a refuah sheleimah soon.”

Yesterday, Rav Chaim Kanievsky traveled from his home on Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak to Mayanei Hayeshuah to visit Rav Shteinman. The two mechutanim spoke for a while and wished each other bracha and hatzlacha. (Rav Shteinman’s son, Rav Shraga, is married to Rav Chaim Kanievsky’s daughter.) Rav Chaim imparted a heartfelt bracha to Rav Shteinman for a refuah shleimah and arichus yomim.

All are asked to daven for Rav Aharon Yehudah Leib ben Gittel Faiga.
