levaya-rav-elyashiv[Video below.] Tens of thousands have gathered in the late Yerushalayim night for the levaya of Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv zt”l

The levaya began at his home on Rechov Chanan in Meah Shearim and is passing through Rechov Shivtei Yisroel, and then Rechov Shmuel Hanovi, Rechov Bar Illan, Rechov Yirmiyahu, Weizmann and Highway 1.

The levaya will then proceed through the Sacharov Junction to the Har Hamenuchos bais hakevaros at Givat Shaul.

Tehillim was recited by the senior mashgiach, Rav Don Segal shlit”a, as well as Maran’s son-in-law, Rav Yitzchok Zilberstein  shlit”a, rov of Ramat Elchonon.

Early estimates put the crowd at the levaya at 100,000. Later reports say about 250,000 attended the levaya. Keeping in mind the late hour of the levaya and the short notice, the massive number of people in attendance is astounding.

  1. MAY THIS ACHDUS be a zchus for the niftar ZT”L & a zchus for klal yisroel as an act of Achdus towards the bringing of Mashiach ASAP

  2. How is the secular media in Israel, reporting this? Will they down play the amount in the crowd like they did by Reb Nosson Tzvi?

  3. There was way more than 100,000 the entire mea sharim area plus kvish achad plus bar ilan plus shmuel hanavi were crowded to the breaking point… They said that there was 100,000 at the hafganah of the parents going to prison this was at least three times the amount of people whoever is estimating this number needs more information

  4. #7, obviously, what #1 was saying was that you’d expect to hear so much more than 100,000 by the levaya of one of our oldest Gedolim, one that we’ve all been davening for for the past couple of months. How dare you have the audacity to write like that, talking about his levaya!!!!! I had to pinch myself to make sure I was reading correctly. May we all live till 120 and not have “1% of that” at our levaya.

  5. #1 lets say that 100000 is not alot, but to say that when talking about a levaya, let alone the levaya of someone who saw ???? in its glory before the War, and the ???? ????!
i don’t know where such chutzpah can come from.

  6. As someone who is in Eretz Yisroel it was packed- the amount of people that came to show kavod for the Torah was such a Kiddush Hashem.People came from Bnei Brak all the way up north all buses were canceled except to bring people to the levaya- taxis were working at 4:00 am to bring people home-May we Klal Yisroel only know of simchas and may this Tish BeAv may we rejpice in the building of the Bais Hamikdash
