rav-schustal-rav-wachtfogelSouth Fallsburg, NY – A vort to be held this evening in the Catskills will bring together two families of leading gedolei roshei yeshiva in the United States.

The vort will celebrate the engagement of Shmuel Schustal, son of Harav Dovid Schustal, Rosh Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, and Nechoma Feiga Wachtfogel, daughter of Harav Elya Ber Wachtfogel, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Zichron Moshe of South Fallsburg, NY.

Both the chosson and the kallah are the youngest children in the respective mishpachos and hail from gedolei Torah who were marbitz Torah to thousands and impacted generations of Yidden on these shores.

The chosson is a grandson of Rebbetzin Sarah Schustal, wife of the late Harav Simcha Schustal zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Bais Binyomin of Stamford, Connecticut, and Rebbetzin Rischel Kotler, wife of Harav Shneur Kotler zt”l, Rosh Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood.

The chosson is a great-grandson of the Mattesdorfer Rov, Harav Shmuel Ehrenfeld zt”l, after whom he is named, and Harav Aharon Kotler zt”l, Rosh Yeshiva in Slutz and Kletzk and founding Rosh Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood.

The kallah is a granddaughter of Harav Nosson Wachtfogel zt”l, Mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood.

The vort will take place this evening in Yeshiva Zichron Moshe in South Fallsburg, NY.

  1. Please note:

The chosson did not learn in EY.

Please also note: Rav Malkiel’s Kotler’s daughter is engaged to a special ben torah who did not learn in EY.

Seems like it’s possible to be a chosheve ben torah even without learning in EY.

Maybe this will begin to reverse the trend that all boys feel they need to go to EY (even if they/their parents/ and rebbeim feel) it’s not in their best interest.

    That would be wonderful

  2. Still remember when the chosson was born – he was born on Leil Simchas Torah. It was during hakofos and the Rosh Hayeshiva and the oilam were dancing in yeshiva when the RY was called home and went to the hospital in Manhattan. Remember it very well.

  3. #3 – they would be greater if they went to e”y.
i did my time in both places and the e”y yidden are greater. more yiras shmayim , more emunah, more shtark, bigger lamdanim.

  4. They should see nachas forever & ever! I persaonlly know these 2 Geonim v’Tzadikim. May they merit to protect us with their harbatzas Torah & chesed
