doomsdayTime is ticking for this gelechter.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, founded in 1945 by those developing the atomic bomb, has moved the minute hand on its Doomsday Clock two minutes closer to catastrophe-at 11:57 p.m. The reason: their concern over rising sea levels.

The clock was developed to alert the public about nuclear proliferation, with midnight representing epic disaster. But it is now used to signify a range of potential disasters. The last time it was moved, to 11:55 p.m., was in 2012. It hasn’t been as high as 11:57 p.m. since 1984, a time of escalated tension between the U.S. and Soviet Union.

Of course this is all ridiculous, because Hashem runs the world and we don’t believe in “doomsdays” or anything of the sort.

But if the doomsday clock is what floats these guys’ boats, then so be it. Let them enjoy their fun. Read more at NPR.

  1. Of course we believe in Doomsdays – both a global one and more localized ones for certain nations. Just not based on any scientific reasons, but spiritual ones.

  2. Even so, this notice, that even the goyim feel the world is teetering, can inspire us to teshuva, right? better to do Teshuva now, then actually have a “doomsday”. The world is definitly heading toward something huge, and fast. After all, when else in history has the world’s most powerful country supported its sworn enemies, (even the “rainbow movement” supports the Palistineans, yet the Muslims are against this toievah as much as we are).?
