naomi-kutinFairlawn, NJ – While most 10-year-old girls are playing with dolls, for 10-year-old Naomi Kutin, she’s setting world records for weightlifting.

Kutin currently holds the record for squat lifts at a whopping 215 pounds, a record in the under-97 pound weight class, beating out women in their 40s.

“It was in my mind to get that record for a really long time and I was training especially hard for that record,” says Kutin.

She says she started training when she was 8 years old and that her inspiration to get into the sport was her father.

Kutin has become such a force at weightlifting tournaments that they moved tournaments from Saturday to Sunday to accommodate her, since she and her family are Orthodox Jews.

  3. #11 I understand, but realize we’re talking about a country where the president says if he has a son his son would look like – not a famous doctor – not a famous scientist – not a famous businessman – not even a famous artist, showman, or athlete. Yasher koach to the girl and her family.

  5. “She says…that her inspiration to get into the sport was her father.” I think we found our winner for the “obvious statement of the year” awards. Vicarious living at its best (worst?).

  6. Amazing. Nothing wrong with her having that talent/strength. B’H, good to hear children who are thriving and strong. Would some of these commenters have something wrong to say about the blessing of strength that the Eibeshter gave Shimshon Hagibor? Hopefully, this young girl will use her talent for good and grow up to be an eishes chayil and be a wonderful example for all Yiddishe techter.
