12-Year-Old Mordechai Neustadt is Menachem Avel Family of Reb Mordechai Gerber z”l

mordechai-neustadt[Audio below.] Rabbi Meir Neustadt z”l of Elad passed away about six weeks ago at age 37. Rabbi Neustadt is survived by his wife and seven children. One of his children, Mordechai, who is 12 years old, went to be menachem avel the family of Reb Mordechai Gerber z”l, who perished last week in the crowd crush at the levayah of Rav Shmuel Halevi Wosner zt”l.

Mordechai comforted the grieving family and brought tears to the family members.

“My name is Mordechai Neustadt and my father died six weeks ago,” he said, “and he (Reb Mordechai Gerber) came to comfort my father and told us two stories that happened with his own father and his mother, who are no longer alive,” Mordechai told the family.

In one story, he once dreamed that he was with his father and they were going to Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin, and his father asked if it is hard for him. After he woke up, he went to Rav Wosner and told him about his dream. Rav Wosner said, “This is a siman (sign) that your father worries about you and will help you with your every need.”

Mordechai also related: “Another story he told was that he was in his house a few years after his wedding and he had not yet merited a child. As he was sleeping, he dreamed of his mother sitting in his house, laughing. He asked her why she was laughing; after all, it was already several years since his wedding and he and his wife had no children. She responded, ‘Do not worry. Next year you will have a son.” And so it was.

“Then,” Mordechai continued, “he told us to be strong, stating that everything we need to ask for, we should ask for, because Hakadosh Boruch Hu is now closer to us. And I can tell you,” said the young orphan,” I tried it a few times and it’s true.”

Rabbi Neustadt taught at Talmud Torah Khal Chassidim in Elad, and in the evenings he served as a staff member at Yeshivas Machnovka. About two months ago, he felt ill and was admitted to the intensive care unit. There was a serious deterioration in his condition and he was niftar.
