amashMariam Amash of the Arab-Israeli village of Jisr a-Zarka died this morning. According to the Interior Ministry’s population registry, she was 124 years old. The listing was based on a birth certificate issued by Turkish authorities who ruled the region at the time.

Amash, whose identification card states that she was born on “00.00.1888,” had 10 children of her own and some 300 descendants.

If Amash was in fact 124 years old at the time of her death, that would make her the oldest women ever documented. Officially, Jeanne Louise Calment, a French supercentenarian, had the longest confirmed human lifespan in history, living to the age of 122 years, 164 days.

In an interview she gave Ynet seven months ago, Amash said, “I’m 124 years old and my identification card says I was born in 1888. Unfortunately, I do not know the exact date, so at the end of each year my family surprises me with a party and gifts.”

Mariam was very well-known throughout the entire Arab sector, and her family said people came from all over the world, as well as from Jewish schools in Israel, to hear her stories.

Majd Amash, one of her grandchildren, told Ynet, “We all know she was the oldest woman in the world. Strangers would visit her from across the globe and they all said they did not know of anyone who had reached her age.

“Despite her age she was strong, and we learned many interesting things from her. She began to feel ill three days ago, and we immediately took her to the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Chadeira. During her last days she told us to watch over her grandchildren and that she loves everyone. Unfortunately, she died today. It was very difficult for us.”

“I always thank god for what he has given me, and I hope I will be given more years,” Masha said. “Instead of telling me ‘May you live until 120,’ people will say ‘May you live until 150.’ I don’t know if I will reach that age,” she told Ynet in March.

“I know what is going on in the country – politically and socially – and I am aware of the Arab sector’s difficulties. You can say that our lives were better before, but I still want to thank the Israeli government for the help it has given us,” she said.

  1. She probably did think she was that old and the 122 year old as well. But we know it’s baloney! Look, she didn’t know her birthday hmmm….

  2. can YOU show Hashem that you can spend your time wisely? if you can them hashem will not need to fill your day up with 8 hours of labor & 8 hours of sleep etc…

How do Tzaddikim manage to focus %100 percent when they only get 4 hours of sleep a day (or some less) ? it should be vice versa, (the elder need more sleep then the strong young)

the answer is above & your schedule is up to you, how many fenses Hashem will need to make to keep you busy.

the age of 60 is the year when a person starts to look back at his 40 years of Adulthood (from 20 to 60). Statistics say that 90 percent of people feel bad that they’re time was not spent wisely-a person promises Hashem, if you turn me back into a twenty year old (if he gets back his 40 years) i promise i will spend my time more wisely-NOW THATS BAD NEWS. How precious life is & every hour is a gift from Hashem. LET US WAKE UP NOW & START TO LIVE A REAL LIFE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. A day gone is gone forever & cannot be made up. Anything pushed away or delayed because of laziness is too late to make up for.

  3. it works the same way with riches & politics & honor:

Who is the one that is ready to be an Employer? Why should i deserve to be an employer more then a employee? The one that his money & business won’t effect his relationship with Hashem he is still going to daven in a minyan every day & have a learning ??? every day. While an employee only works from 9:00AM to 5:00PM this time of work is his fence between him & Hashem telling him its time to go Daven & learn. But the person that realizes this does not need this fence as a reminder to go daven & learn. Hashem sees he gives ???? he Davens & learns everyday why shouldn’t he be a multi millionaire he knows how to spend it right & appreciates that Hashem picked him to be an employer more then an employee. Why don’t jews run the biggest businesses in the world? Because if we do it will effect the relationship between him & Hashem (he will forget to daven & not be ???? ??? etc…)

start working on showing Hashem that you can keep up with these things even before you become rich or own a company etc… If you can pass Hashems test now then you can show Hashem that riches or honor won’t effect you & you are ready for the test of riches or honor etc…

REMINDER:the tests of the rich man are harder then the test of the poor man
