A 69-year-old woman, Rochel Wahrman a”h, was fatally struck by a bus in Midtown Manhattan today, police said. The accident happened around 9:40 a.m. on West 57th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue.
Rochel was struck by a city bus as she tried to cross the street at mid-block, police said.
She was pronounced dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Rochel was walking in the street on West 57th St. between Broadway and Eighth Avenue when she was hit by the left side of an X5 MTA bus.
Chesed Shel Emes volunteers were at the scene of the tragedy to ensure kavod hameis.
The driver has not been charged. The investigation is ongoing.
