Updated: Chasdei Hashem: 14-Year-Old Bnei Brak Boy Missing in Forests Near Haifa Found Alive and Well

bnei-brak-boy[Update below.] 11 :39 p.m. IL, Tuesday: Rescue teams conducted searches through the forests near Haifa this evening in an attempt to locate a 14-year-old boy from Bnei Brak who went missing during a hike with his family in Nachal Sfunim. According to reports, the family had split into two groups during the hike, and both groups thought that the boy was with the other. Only when they arrived back at their cars did they realize that he was lost. After the family alerted police, the search then began. Helicopters and police on horseback are also assisting in the search.

We pray that the boy will be found quickly.

Update, 5:30 a.m. IL: In a separate incident, about 100 yeshiva bochurim are stuck for the night in Nachal Dragot in the Judean Desert. The group lost its way and was unable to leave the nachal by nightfall. Police and rescue workers are in touch with the group, but because of their large numbers, police said it would be safer for them to remain in the nachal overnight, according to Arutz Shevah.

All are asked to continue davening for the Bnei Brak boy, Yaakov ben Miriam.

Update: 8:01 a.m. IL/1:01 EST: A short while ago, searchers found 14-year-old Yankele Schenkolewski. Hundreds of rescue workers searched throughout the night on the western slopes of Har Hacarmel. Yankele had taken a short detour as his family was hiking in Nachal Sfunim, and as night fell, his mishpacha began searching for him and then called authorities for assistance. Boruch Hashem, he is well and back with his family.
