Fifteen House Republicans are demanding answers about whether the State Department officials blamed for the fatal Benghazi attack in an independent audit still have their jobs.
In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, the lawmakers asked what steps the department is taking “to resolve the issue of their employment status.”
An internal review found “systemic failures and leadership and management deficiencies at senior levels” that resulted in the deaths of four American diplomats last year, but did not recommend firing anyone. So far, a few officials have been placed on administrative leave, but only one person has been let go in wake of the scandal.
