A coordinated Europe-wide sweep rounded up 17 suspected militants Thursday, officials said, and were linked to an alleged plot to attack British and Norwegian diplomats in the Middle East.
“This is the most important international police operation in Europe in 20 years,” said Italian anti-terrorism chief Giuseppe Governale.
Sixteen of the suspects were Kurds and one a Kosovar. They were apparently set on freeing fundamentalist Norwegian preacher Najmuddin Ahmad Faraj (shown in picture), who is known to followers as Mollah Krekar. Read more at Yahoo News.
