protest-idf-chareidimYidden protested in Beit Shemesh today against the ongoing incarceration of a yeshiva bochur for failing to report for IDF military duty and the arrest of a second person for the same reason.

Mordechai Kenig, an 18 year old bochur from Neve Yaakov, Yerushalayim, was arrested on Wednesday. He is imprisoned at the Prison 6, near Atlit, south of Chaifa.

Mordechai is a talmid of Kfar Chassidim and followed the guidance of Rav Shmuel Auerbach for bochurim not to go to IDF enlistment offices when called by the army.

On December 1, a different bochur, Moshe Elashvilli, was arrested in Kiryat Malachi for not showing up at an IDF enlistment office. Moshe is still in jail at Prison 6.

Several hundred people protested on Rechov Nahar Hayarden in Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet. Police were violent in responding.

  1. To “me”
Do you mean like Nelson Mandella?
Or are you too young to know that he spent many years in jail for breaking what were the laws at that time. Or do you mean lik the Prisoners of Zion in Communist Russia? Or maybe you’re simply thinking of the Chashmonoim.
