About Jews were arrested Sunday when they attempted to visit Kever Yosef in Shechem.

According to Honenu, the legal action group representing the Jews, four Jews managed to reach the holy site before being arrested by Palestinian security forces and handed over to the IDF.

Israeli security forces arrested the remainder of the Jewish group on a road leading up to the tomb. All of the pilgrims arrested during the incident were transferred to an Israeli police station in the Samaria community of Ariel for further questioning.

“Early in the morning, IDF received reports of 20 young Jews who entered Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus without first coordinating with the security forces,” the IDF said in a statement. “After being questioned, the suspects will be brought to the Petach Tikva Magistrate’s Court for a hearing.”

Yosef was buried outside of the city of Shechem, which is modern-day Nablus in the territories. As part of the 1993 Oslo Accords, Jewish prayer at the site is limited to once a month during the middle of the night, when the IDF secures access to the kever. Jewish worshippers often attempt to visit the site without prior coordination with the IDF.

In 2011, Palestinian Authority police officers responsible for administering security at the holy site opened fire on three cars driven by Jewish worshippers, killing a 25-year-old man and injuring four more.

  1. Gedolei yisroel predicted the last golus will be under secular Jews. Yirmiyahu prophesied that Klal Yisroel would be in golus for 70 years. We were 70 years under Communist rule. And now for the final, we’re 70 years in golus under Zionists rule, which means, Moshiach should be coming any day now.

    • R’ Yochanan said: Since the Bais Hamikdash was destroyed, prophecy has been taken from prophets and given to fools and children.

      • True, but Gedolei Yisroel get their prophecy from learning Torah. You can’t deny that the Baal Shem Tov zt”l, R’ Meir’l Premishlaner zt”l, the Lubavitcher Rebbe zt”l, the Gerer Rebbe zt”l and many many more did not have ruach hakodesh.

        • Did the Vilna Goan miss the course on prophecy? Twisting the line between ruach hakodesh and prophecy how convenient!

      • It’s apikursim like you who can’t answer a basic question or thought, so your knee-jerk reaction is to always quote a Gemorah with which your tumadika kup can’t comprehend. Open an english translation of your Soncino.
