A 2000-year-old Hebrew engraving with the first written evidence of the name Yerushalayim have been found on a column drum dating from the Herodian period.

The find marks the first discovery in which Yerushalayim is found written in the Hebrew spelling of “Yerushalayim” used today in Modern Hebrew. The inscription on the column, believed to date back to the time of the Bayis Shayni, reads “Hananiah son of Dudolos from Yerushalayim” and is etched on a limestone column drum.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Yuval Baruch of the IAA and Prof Ronny Reich of Haifa University noted the rarity of the find:

“First and Second Temple period inscriptions mentioning Jerusalem are quite rare. But even more unique is the complete spelling of the name as we know it today, which usually appears in the shorthand version. This is the only stone inscription of the Second Temple period known where the full spelling appears.”

  1. Shield to war. The palestinians have no sense of our land. It is to the redeemed a home.

Faith in G-d is long. What a nice find.

Israel is accomplished and we must all know why Israel is hoping wise to have our 3rd Temple. The very audacity that Islam wills a difference is war.

  2. Nice try !!! But the Hebrew Alphabet never has and never will contain vowels only consonants.
It doesn’t have the letter j or H either. The letter j is only 500 years old in the English Alphabet.
Psalms 68:4 has God’s name but with the original Y not J. The 1611 King James Bible does not have the letter j in it because it didn’t exist , therefore Jesus didn’t exist either.
So what is the true Hebrew savior’s name ?
    Nice trY!!
