The Republican National Committee announced its dates for the 2016 convention, and it will be held a month earlier than usual. The GOP will officially complete its presidential nomination process in Cleveland by July 21, 2016. The convention will begin on July 18.

“The convention will be held significantly earlier than previous election cycles, allowing access to crucial general election funds earlier than ever before to give our nominee a strong advantage heading into Election Day,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus in an emailed statement.

Part of the reason Cleveland was chosen last year over Dallas was because it was willing to hold the convention earlier in the summer. Read more at Cleveland.com.
