If you’re going to lose your wallet or drop a $20 by mistake, Japan is the place to do it. In 2014, around $26 million in mislaid cash was turned into police — and around 75 percent of these funds actually were returned to their proper owners.

In Tokyo alone, 3.56 million found items were handed over to cops, which marked a new record-high for the third year in a row.

In comparison, only 122,930 missing items were turned into authorities in London last year, according to Transport for London. Read more at The Telegraph.

  1. In Japan, it is illegal (with jaIL time) just to pick up “found” money for yourself. In our Torah, there is a complete halachah on what to do and how to do it.
