Call it Shawshank Canada-style. Three inmates escaped their Quebec jail by helicopter. At around 7:45 p.m. on Shabbos, the men fled from the Orsainville Detention Centre in a green helicopter. Yves Denis, 35, Denis Lefebvre, 53, and Serge Pomerleau, 49, all have previous ties to the Hells Angels.
Oddly enough, this is not the first time the Quebecers have had to deal with helicopter-assisted jailbreaks. In March 2013, two inmates escaped from a prison in St-Jerome by highjacking a helicopter a gunpoint. They were caught a few hours later.
Police Sergeant Ann Mathieu said of the recent escape, “The priority number one is to find the helicopter.” Priority number two should probably be making sure prisoners stop escaping via helicopters. Read more at CBC.
