riverdale-nypdThree men convicted of plotting to blow up New York City synagogues and shoot down military planes have been sentenced to 25 years in prison in federal court in Manhattan.

James Cromitie, David Williams and Onta Williams were convicted last year of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction.

Their lawyers argued that they deserved a break because the plot was part of an elaborate sting and never posed a threat, but prosecutors described the men as “ticking time bombs” who needed to be taken off the streets for good.

Judge Colleen McMahon scolded the government for presenting a case that relied on an FBI informant whose methods she suggested bordered on entrapment.

The defense sought to convince McMahon to throw out the convictions, saying “the government created the criminal and then they manufactured the crime.”

Agents arrested them in 2009 after they planted fake devices supplied by the FBI in the Bronx while under heavy surveillance.

  1. It’s hard to miss the bizarre irony that R’ Shalom Rebashkin was sentenced to longer than that for his . . . terrible plans of violence? Hashem Yirachem!
