candle-small5[Update below. Levaya and shivah info below.] 5 p.m.: A 3-year-old frum girl in the Lawrence, NY, community has drowned and the woman who was believed to be caring for her at the time has been hospitalized. The toddler was in an in-ground backyard swimming pool in Lawrence, when the accident occurred early this afternoon.

Police Lt. Kevin Smith says investigators suspect the adult caretaker – a woman in her 30s – was in the pool with the little girl and may have slipped into the deep end of the pool, dropping the child.

Officials said the young girl and her babysitter were rushed to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway after they were pulled out of the water about 2:45 p.m. by a man painting the girl’s house on Beechwood Drive.

It’s believed the young girl’s 5-year-old brother found the two floating in the pool and ran to tell the painter. The painter apparently tried to do CPR on the two while calling 9-1-1.

Smith says the babysitter is on a ventilator.

Boruch dayan emes.

Stop with this ‘frum yid’. She was not. Shw wasnt even jewish. So what? she is a human being, mother of 3. It is such a shame for both – Naama and her baby sitter.

Mah Hakesher to whether she was a “frum yid”?!- she was a human being created by G-d. Baruch Dayan Emet.
