irs1The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) informed congressional members of several committees on Friday that up to 30,000 missing emails sent by former IRS official Lois Lerner have been recovered. The emails were deemed lost for good five months ago, but were ultimately found among “disaster recovery tapes” meant to back up the IRS’s email system.

The IRS has said it is full cooperating with TIGTA’s investigation.

Committees in the House and Senate sought the emails in their search for proof that Lerner was in cahoots with Obama administration officials to disproportionately target conservative and Tea Party groups seeking tax-exempt status before the 2012 presidential election. Read more at Washington Examiner.
