More than 70 Republicans, including former members of Congress and Republican National Committee members, have signed a petition to RNC chair Reince Priebus asking him to cut funding for the Trump campaign.

“We believe that Donald Trump’s divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide,” reads a draft of the letter obtained by POLITICO.

The signatories, including former Sen. Gordon Humphrey and former RNC press secretary Christine Iverson Gunderson, encourage the RNC to divert its spending to Republican congressional candidates. Read more at POLITICO.

  1. One wishes they had the platform to speak to these 70 republicans and rebuke them as follows: What happened to, ‘We The People?’ There was a fair primary in which all eligible voters came out and decided who their candidate should be. Our party constituents are telling us very clearly: We do not want another politician to run our beloved country, to be politically correct and have to pander to minorities. We need a leader to get us back on track and has the shouders to do what is right for America and not just what is more popular. So instead of coming out with a letter stating: “We believe that Donald Trump’s divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide,” You should all band together to declare: “He is our candidate and we will support him.” Do you all not realize how much divsiveness you are causing at casting doubt in Trump’s supporters and that the result is handing over the election to Mrs. Clinton. Do you not understand how the liberal agenda is ruining America? Not merely Mrs. Clinton who is a lair, corrupt politicianand can not be trusted in addition to all her failures in public office. We can not afford to have Obama’s policies for another four years. And, needless to say, the choosing of two Supreme Court judges are ample reason alone to support Trump. You are all acting childish coming to a decision not to support Trump. You should have all campaigned during the primaries to avoid having Trump win. But that did not work because the majority of people who make up the party do NOT think like you and that”s why he won. You seventy repulicans do not form the majority and now, so late in the game, is a time to unite and by banding together you are not allowing Trump to unite the party.
I acknowledge that Trump was the weakest of the seventeen candidates, but the fact that he beat them all is very telling as to what our party needs and wants are. So it is your actions that are causing divisiveness at a time when we all need to unite.

  2. Bunch of cowards! Have they fought this hard against liberal Obama policies?? no ah but Trump he is terrible. Did they listed to the economic speech? What its to liberal? to much control of government?
Do they like Clintons economic speech about raising taxes on all? Do they like Clintons justices better? What exactly is the terrible thing about TRUMP? Yes he is a flawed candidate but I guess they rather have an actor like politician putting on a good show during election and then not doing anything once in office!!! The people are fed up with the same old, same old and the people nominated Trump for nominee. Stop believing the lies against Trump and put the same magnifying glass on Clinton. She would melt! Trump is the only way forward. These Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot.

  3. The letter adds salt to the wound by noting that Trump’s chances of winning the White House are ‘evaporating by the day.’  They and their cohorts warn that Trump will do so much to damage the Republican brand that down-ballot races for the Senate and House will be affected.
