tefillas-shelah-smallAll parents want the best for their children – that they should be good and upright, that they have everything they need for a fruitful, joyous life. The classic work, Shelah HaKadosh, contains a tefillah

that parents should recite for their children at any time of the year – but especially before Rosh Chodesh Sivan, which is tomorrow, for that is the month when Hakadosh Boruch Hu gave us the Torah, and when the Yidden began to be called His Children. This year, it is preferable to recite it today, Thursday, Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan.

As a public service, we offer the text of the tefillah for downloading.

  1. I just happen to wonder, aren’t you supposed to say this every day..why do people wait once a year?? its not like a Yontiff..my husband and I say it every day..educating children never ends, even after they get married..we should say this every day and teach our children every day..

  2. If someone is not yet married or hasn’t had children yet allowed or should say this tefila? Can they say it everyday also?

  3. Yontif really means “yom tov”, like the word
“yontivik” – connected or pertinent to yom tov , all are the “derivatives” of Chag-יום טוב, .yom tov. Git yontev is a famous greeting.
