abbasThere has been no progress whatsoever in the first four meetings between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators since diplomatic talks restarted, PA President Mahmoud Abbas told a visiting group of Israeli Knesset members in Ramallah on Thursday.

Abbas said he was not optimistic that the talks will succeed. He also said the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails was unrelated to the launching of the peace talks.

PLO Secretary-General Yasser Abed Rabbo told Voice of Palestine radio that Israel remained opposed to the presence of a U.S. official at the talks, calling the absence of a U.S. representative “problematic.”

  1. I dont understand the last sentence: Is there a U.S. official present or not? How can they be opposed to the presence of a U.S. official but at the same time say that the absense is “problematic”? Makes no sense. Is the reporting incorrect?

  2. Dear Mr.Abbas, what did you really expect? That Israel are going to take you seriously, sign away portions of our land, for absolutely nothing in return? You cannot be serious, surely not!
