Addition To Yerushalayim Security Wall

0

After years of legal and public battles, Yerushalayim’s security wall is to be extended in the south. It will cut off the Palestinian villages of al-Walaja and Battir northwest of Beis Lechem from Jewish parts of the city, Haaretz reported. Much of the walled off land will become part of a new Yerushalayim park, including the al-Hanya Spring.

Al-Walaja is home to al-Badawi, an ancient olive tree claimed to be the oldest in the world, while Battir has been identified as ancient Beitar, the last stronghold during the second Jewish revolt against Rome.
