The Jewish community in Chevron, the city of our fathers, reestablished 38 years ago after decades of Arab expulsion, was accorded for the first time yesterday the status of an independent community, Kol Haolam reports.

This means that Chevron will no longer be tied to the Palestinian-run municipality in regards to purchasing land, entering into contracts and tenders and collecting fees.
