misaskim-breakfastIn what is now a tradition preceding Election Day, the Agudath Israel of America Pre-Election Day Legislative will be showcasing a high level program focusing on the theme of “the Challenges of International Terrorism and how it continues to impact NYC from a law enforcement perspective”. The breakfast takes place on Thursday, October 30 at the Down Town Association located at 60 Pine Street in Lower Manhattan from 8-9:15am. RSVP mandatory at [email protected].

High Level officials from the law enforcement community will share their thoughts on a timely topic high on the agenda, as the world continues to grapple with this sensitive subject that impacts our community not only in NYC but also around the world.

Remarks will be heard from FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard Frankel who currently oversees the FBI Criminal Division in NY and previously served as the Special Agent in Charge of Counter-Terrorism as well Associate Director of National Intelligence (an appointment by FBI Director Robert Muller and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper). In addition to various high-level FBI investigations in Afghanistan, Mr. Frankel oversaw numerous counter-terrorism investigations including the plot to bomb two New York synagogues as well as the NYC subway system.

Agudath Israel is privileged that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance will be addressing the gathering. DA Vance occupies what is considered one of the nation’s preeminent prosecutor’s offices. Since the 1930s, there have been just four elected District Attorneys, and each has had a significant impact on modern criminal prosecution. Mr. Vance as District Attorney handles more than 100,000 criminal cases each year.

Agudath Israel looks forward paying tribute to the memory of the late Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau Jr. for his key role in the establishment of the US War Refugee Board 70 years ago. The War Refuge Board saved over 200,000 lives in the waning days of World War II and is credited with recruiting Raoul Wallenberg on his heroic mission to save the remnants of Hungarian Jewry. Robert P. Morgenthau, a grandson of Henry Morgenthau Jr., will be representing the Morgenthau family.

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and its Oversight and Government Reform Committee as well as the sub-committee which oversees the Departments of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, Congressman Paul Gosar is in a key position to address support of the US-Israel relationship as well as the recently disclosed fact that former Nazis have been receiving social security benefits. Mr. Gosar was recognized in 2012 as one of the most effective new members of Congress based on the number of legislative actions he proposed that passed the House of Representatives.

The significance of the Legislative Breakfast is summed up by Rabbi David Zwiebel, Executive Vice President of Agudath Israel: “Our annual Pre-Election Legislative Breakfast gathering serves as an impressive demonstration of the high level of involvement of the Orthodox community and creates a timely and vital reminder that the Orthodox Jewish community cares deeply about where our government leaders stand on the issues of the day.”

The Legislative Breakfast is sponsored by: Atlantis National Services, Inc., a 32 state licensed title insurance agent, who will be represented by its founding partners Radni Davoodi and Raymond Y. Davoodi; as well as by MedReview, which is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary and is the oldest medical peer review organization in New York State. MedReview will be represented by its President and CEO, Mr. Joseph B. Stamm.
