Al Gore: Major Snowstorms Caused By Global Warming

goreFox News pundit Bill O’Reilly, on the Jan. 27 edition of The O’Reilly Factor, asked, “Why has southern New York turned into the tundra” and added, “I have a call in to Al Gore.”

The former vice president and climate activist provided a response on his website today. “I appreciate the question,” Gore writes, adding:

“As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming.”

He then includes a blurb from February 2010 column by Clarence Page in The Chicago Tribune:

“In fact, scientists have been warning for at least two decades that global warming could make snowstorms more severe. Snow has two simple ingredients: cold and moisture. Warmer air collects moisture like a sponge until it hits a patch of cold air. When temperatures dip below freezing, a lot of moisture creates a lot of snow,” it states.

“A rise in global temperature can create all sorts of havoc, ranging from hotter dry spells to colder winters, along with increasingly violent storms, flooding, forest fires and loss of endangered species,” the column adds.

  1. makes a lot of sense. Snow comes in the cold not in the heat. THere is crazy snowstorms because that is what Hashem decided. He wanted to show everyone who is really in charge!!

  2. Al Gore wants global warming to be true. But, you can’t say that his theory of global warming is supported by any science. His theory must be falseafiable and testable. Every time his theory is tested, as with ice storms, or whatever, he says that it proves his theory of global warming! That is not science. It is nonsence.

  3. It’s a win win situation for Gore. If the winter is too cold and snowy-it’s global warming to blame. If the winter is mild-it’s global warming to blame!

  4. Migdal Bavel was built to save them from another flood (Rashi).

Reminds me of the story of the mouse meeting an Elephant on a very narrow bridge.

“So big,” said the mouse, looking slowly up the Elephant’s gray colossus. “How old are you?” the little gray thing thing asked.

“One year old,” boomed down the Elephant voice.

“So am I,” said the perplexed little creature, “but I was sick just after I was born.”

  5. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Eleven years ago, the high priests of global warming said, “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is”.

Now they’re saying it causes snow. Amazing! What brilliant people!

  6. How did all matzav.com readers suddenly become scientists? Maybe there is truth to global warming, maybe there isn’t. Unless you’ve done more research than having listened to Rush Limbough spew on your commute back from work, don’t be too critical and cynical.
    The world DOES change…

  7. I have a simple idea how Al Gore could prove his point: Let him – with his phony “scientists” – predict for the next 5 winters, which one will be mild (due to global warming of course) and which ones will be like this years (due to global warming of course). If he is right he might have a point but if he is wrong then it’s basically the same as is going on for hundreds and thousands of years, namely that some winters are milder and others harder, and same for summer etc., and “ein chadash tachas hashemesh”!

  8. This was getting beyond ridiculous oh, around six or seven years ago. Al Gore and his “global warming” cohorts may very well go down in history as some of the biggest fraudsters (if not collectively THE biggest fraudsters) in a century — if not a millennium.

The truth of this massive, contrived Chicken-Little scam will eventually be completely and unequivocally out in the open, despite the wishes and desperate exertions of the cultish, unconditional Gore apologists and “global warming” acolytes.

  9. Then Al,

Why is it “Mother Nature” caused the VOLCANIC AGE, THE ICE AGE, and Man was not even around?

Mother Nature continues her changes, we are a PIMPLE on an ELEPHANTS nose….

Sure, we can change, but it will translate into a few months of difference.

You are just a MONEY MAKING MACHINE that needs to be silenced with REALITY.

Mother Nature, NEVER LOSES, Will NEVER change her mind and that’s it.

    Don’t you get it…

Until you can explain the MAJOR changes of the Volcanic and ICE AGES virtually WITHOUT HUMANS, but here we are… GO AWAY!

Get real already…. and stop causing us to spend BILLIONS of Dollars on your money making SCAMS!

Seen you in Person, and I was not impressed. Las Vegas, 2009, IBM PULSE.

  10. Is it just me or does AlGore sound like Forrest Gump? “Hi, my name is Al Gore. People call me ‘Al Gore.'”

BTW, this “genius” has the dubious distinction of being the only Vice-President (as well as, to the best of my knowledge, the only serving US Senator and major party presidential nominee to have FLUNKED OUT of two, yes, count them, TWO graduate schools (Vanderbilt’s divinity and law schools).

And the libs all tell us BUSH was stupid?

  11. FYI It is a proven fact that air pockets from warmer climates that have soaked up moisture travel around the globe. If they hit a cold front they can be converted to snow and cause a blizzard. This is linked to why we sometimes have hail stoms in the middle of the summer.

  12. To Chaim^k
There may be something to global warming but
    1) there is a machlokes whether it is natural or man-made
    2) some in the global warming camp are using the term “global warming” less and “climate disruption” more…I wonder why? Seems a bit disingenuous.

  13. Not sure how any of us are experts or why we choose to believe or not believe that global warming is occurring.

I would like to just toss this on the table: A warmer atmosphere means more condensation. More condensation means more snow in the winter season and more rain in the summer, if the process is gradual.

Kindly refute in a non-political way.

  14. #13, you begin to make a reasonable argument, that you cannot close. You start and then you spin out with an opinion statement about Al Gore and then you spin further out by stating Mother Nature (your term) Never Loses…etc.. as though that proves YOUR point. Couldnt mother nature (your term) also never lose by heating the atmosphere to create more condensation to create more rain and snow to clean the polluted skies?

  15. @MoshiachNow01 — OK I’ll refute, but to leave politics out of it is to ignore a large part of the causation for this “global warming” mindset.

There is no “warming trend” that backs up the “global warming” claims of these fraudsters. That’s why they started trying to call it “climate change.” You would think that alone would raise an eyebrow with most people.

It’s now such a flailing and blatantly ridiculous ideology that it’s pure out-in-the-open farce: first they said snow would be a thing of the past; never happened. When it snows a lot, it’s the “global warming.” When it doesn’t snow, it’s the “global warming.” When it’s warmer than usual, “global warming,” colder than usual, an (ahem) “indirect” result of “global warming.”

They run this con with a straight face.

When there are a lot of hurricanes, “global warming” is to blame. When the hurricane season is unremarkable, guess why?

We’re seeing these inane claims right now with the snowstorms and ice storms throughout the US — you yourself are trying to prop up this latest “spin” and then you want to urge an “apolitical” approach.

Take a look around; the seasons have been coming and going as usual. Rain and snow and sun and clouds. How’s that for your basic, empirical evidence as “refutation”?

When they started with that “carbon footprint” and “carbon credit” silliness with the threats of heavy taxation “for your own good,” you would think some people would wake up to the absurdity; when they decided to phase out the good ol’ incandescent light bulb, you would think some people would wake up to the absurdity.

Then you hear stores about Al Gore’s $30K-a-month utility bills, while he preaches about mankind’s “carbon footprint” and mankind’s “heat and energy emissions and fuel consumption” causing the “imminent destruction of the planet.” You would think THAT kind of conspicuous hypocrisy and ostentatious “high living” would have raised a few eyebrows.

But some folks are apparently too far down the True Believer path to want to turn back to reality.

This whole con began, if I recall correctly, during an inordinately warm period caused by El Nino. And for some reason — MANY OF THEM POLITICAL — it “caught” particularly well with certain “political” types.

  16. Well, it certainly stands to reason that a warmer Earth would be a wetter one with increased evaporation from the oceans putting more moisture in the air.

P.S. Al Gore is still an idiot.

  17. #20, Thank you for taking the time to answer. I see it is difficult to leave opinion and politics out of it. It has BECOME political and we all know how divisive politics has become. Lines are drawn in the sand.

Basically, does the data support total hotter earth temperature. And would it be enough to create enough condensation to explain more snow in winter and more rain in summers in certain areas.

#21. If you think the theory is plausible, then you comment on Gore, whom you dont know; is childish.
