After being freed from five years in a Cuban prison, U.S. Agency for International Development contractor Alan Gross has received a $3.2 million payment from the U.S. government as part of a settlement with his employer.
Gross was working in Cuba for a company called Development Alternatives Inc., and was trying to expand Internet access in Cuba’s Jewish community when he was jailed in 2009.
The payment is a settlement for a claim filed by DAI against USAID for $7 million for incurred expenses related to the arrest and incarceration of Gross. Read more at NBC News.

I’m sure all the money in the world wouldn’t suffice as “payment” for what Alan had to go through…
