alternate-side-parkingDear Matzav.com,

I’v seen this happen many times and I was thinking that maybe it would be a good for Matzav.com to share the following with your readers, so they can save themselves from aggravation on Shabbos and the week after.

The zeman for Shabbos Kodesh is earlier in the winter and the parking meters are usually in effect on Friday until 7 p.m. I have seen many drivers who are used to parking their cars on corners of their homes or shuls, and when they come the last minute and they see free parking, they park and run in to shul without looking at their watch or the signs. The meter maids don’t go home earlier because of Shabbos and they write tickets for those cars parked at expired meters. Then, the driver passes his car on the way to or from shul, and sees that orange envelope on his car and he can’t even look at it to see how much it will cost him.

Please make the readers of Matzav.com aware of this.

  1. As a side point, I know someone who parks his car illegally on the alternate sides day in front of his shul, because parking in that neighborhood is close to impossible, and circling would cause him to be late for shachris. He racks up a bill of a couple of hundred (no points), but he claims that it is worth it.
This is good, but one must be careful not to cause a chilul hashem.
NOTE: It is cheaper to stay parked on the alternate sides day-usually a $40/$45 fine, than to double park and forget to move the car- a $150 fine.

  2. come on you lazy bones!! get out of your prisons {cars} give urselfs a run for once! ull be a few pounds poorer and a few bucks richer

  3. I happened to read about your parking difficulties, re early Shabbat.

B.H. not such thing in Israel. as its Shabbat for everyone. As was commented, try some exercise, you will only benefit from this.

I personally walk 1/2 hr every Shabbat to shul
    thats one way.
