The annual “Kosher on the Road” barbecue for people traveling between the tri-state area and Cleveland, Detroit, South Bend and Chicago for Yom Tov will be held on Sunday, April 9, at the Flying J station at exit 173 in Lamar, Pennsylvania, off of Interstate 80, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

No reservation is needed.

Huge quantities of kosher food will be provided at the site.

The program was conceived several years ago when a local businessman had an idea to help people traveling before Yom Tov, at a time when travelers have cleaned their cars for Pesach. There is not much that one can eat on the road in terms of kosher l’Pesach food, and matzah is not an option during the pre-Pesach days.

People will once again be able to stop and get a complete chometzdike meal, meet fellow travelers, and participate in minyanim for Mincha and Maariv.

The barbecue is fully sponsored and all donations will go to Bikur Cholim of Cleveland.

  1. Sounds great. Can someone start one between Flatbush & Boro Park? We travel a lot back & forth as we visit my shvigger to be michazeyk her. Was coming back late last night and suddenly felt very hungry. We could set up a barbecue somewhere on McDonald Avenue. I’ll donate to the cause.

Amazing chessed. Kudos to the organizers and donors for their kindness and generosity.

  3. Great idea that has helped so many over the past few years. For those traveling to places west of Cleveland though, it is a little early in the trip to stop. Hopefully in the future they can make it a little deeper into Pennsylvania. Not complaining just pointing it out. It’s a wonderful amazing chesed
