Tonight, an asifas zikaron for the yahrtzeit of Harav Levi Krupenia zt”l, Rosh Yeshivas Kamenitz, will take place at Yeshiva Tiferes Elimelech, 1650 56th Street, in Boro Park. Divrei hisorerus will be delivered by rabbonim and bnei mishpacha beginning at 6:15.
Rav Levi was born in Slonim, Russia, and learned in the Mirrer Yeshiva before spending the World War II years in Shanghai during which he became close to the mashgiach, Rav Chatzkel Levenstein zt”l. After the war, Rav Levi, a son-in-law of Rav Reuven Grozovsky (whose own father-in-law was Rav Baruch Ber Leibowitz, the Kamenitzer Rosh Yeshiva in Lithuania and author of Birchas Shmuel), gave shiur at Yeshivas Bais Hatalmud in New York.
In the early 1960s, Rav Krupenia became the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Toras Emes-Kamenitz, in Woodridge, NY, and later in Brooklyn.
