Aspirin May Double Cancer Survival

bayer aspirinA new study suggests cancer patients who take aspirin regularly may double their survival rates. The study, which followed 14,000 people with gastrointestinal-tract cancers in the Netherlands, saw the survival rate for regular aspirin users double.

“Through studying the characteristics of tumors in patients where aspirin was beneficial, we should be able to identify patients who could profit from such treatment in the future,” the trial coordinator said. “Given that aspirin is a cheap, off-patent drug with relatively few side effects, this will have a great impact on health-care systems as well as patients.” Read more at The Guardian.
