פרסום ראשון: Sources tell Matzav.com that the atzeres tefillah expected to be held this coming Sunday, April 21, in New York City in light of the gezeiros being enacted by the government in Israel will not take place after all.
A kol koreh expected to be released this evening in support of the event will not be issued either.
Speculation has surfaced connecting the possible cancellation or postponement of the tefillah gathering to the bombing yesterday in Boston, Massachusetts, but a reliable source closely involved in the organizing of the event tells Matzav.com that the Boston tragedy aside, the event simply failed to gained the traction initially expected by some.
Furthermore, claims that gedolei Eretz Yisroel‘s opposition to the asifa – whether true or not – were the cause of the cancellation are absolutely fabricated, we are told. Rather, the asifa arrangements disintegrated on these shores, with gedolim giving the final approval to cancel it earlier this evening.
May there be no further need for such gatherings, and may the next assemblage of Yidden be to greet Moshiach Tzidkeinu, may his arrival be b’mehayra b’yomaynu.

The truth is that Da’as Torah in North American realizes that this gathering would do more harm than good.
someone made up a story about rav shteinman being against it! sheker!
will it be tefillos & teshuva or more tzaros C”V? that choice is up to all of us.
Baruch Hashem
Another chilul hashem averted. Thank G-d.
As draconian as drafting yeshiva students may sound, there is no question that security needs in Israel must be addressed and cannot be thrust upon the irreligious. Condemnations and curses will not solve this dilemma, nor is it a kiddush haShem, nor will it be mekarev anyone. Time for us to get serious.
I think we now need, a Yom Tefillah for the Yom Tefilla we just lost! I was looking foward to it. I went to the one they had, a number of years ago. It was a great feeling of togetherness. Just like the Siyum Hashas.
Feels like some vital info is missing in this report..
Thank G-d! This atzeret tefilah would have been very divisive. It would have been an enormous chilul Hashem b’pharhesia.
i am not surprised
Maybe because nobody knows about it.
The real reason it was cancelled was because of those leaving comments on the earlier “matzav” reports. You see anytime a person makes a decision he first logs on to matzav sees what a bunch of anonymous ammratzim, armchair people say, and then and only then will they give out their opinion.
Don’t worry. There will be other Asifos and fundraisers to come later this Zman in various communities.
who could risk security with the situation now?
wehave to be honest with ourselves
#1 Even my DAAS figured out that this will cause worse repercussions and sinah here in this world and in the heavenly spheres.
I HOPE we shall all do real Teshuva and go to Erez Yisroel.
Jews of America,
I beg you to realize that you are soon going to be in great danger.Start packing your bags and be ready as soon as you can.

Baruch Hashem,it was cancelled would have been a huge chillul hashem.
ready tog o
Why does everyone feel the need to post their opinion??
any action is really a serious threat to your own gashmy & ruchni status
A Kavod Shamayim for the moment averted.
Hopefully soon.
Most likely canceled in recognition of the security risk (as in soft target, Boston for instance) this would present, and the costs involved in securing it. Maybe NYPD just said no.
Cancelling this ill-conceived event was the smartest recent move
