david-paterson-closeup_0[Audio below.] With the MTA in financial crisis, New York Governor David Paterson spoke to WCBS Newsradio 880 in New York in an interview this morning. Paterson spoke with anchors Pat Carroll and Paul Murnane. The central topic of the conversation was the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, though they also discussed the bonus situation at AIG.

Details of a massive fare hike could result in a $2.50 subway fare and a $103 monthly MetroCard. The fare hikes would take effect in June. The MTA appears to be leaning toward the increase in hopes of closing its $1.2 billion budget gap. MTA board members had been considering two different fare hike options.
