Audio: Yanky Ostreicher Gives Telephone Interview
[Audio below.] Last night, yanky Ostreicher spoke to Assemblyman Dov Hikind on The Dov Hikind Show, which aired on WMCA in New York. In the half-hour telephone interview, Mr. Ostreicher expressed his appreciation to those who have worked for his release. He specifically thanked Mr. Hikind and the Aleph Institute, which contacted activist Sean Penn, who made a direct appeal to Bolivian President Evo Morales. Mr. Ostreicher also expressed his gratitude to former FBI special agent Steve Moore, who joined the program on air.
Mr. Ostreicher told Hikind that, in his opinion, anti-Semitism was not what led to this debacle.
“They don’t know much about Judaism in this country. Somebody once saw me there with a yarmulke. I usually used to go with a cap, but he saw me once with a yarmulka and he asked me if I was a Muslim,” said Mr. Ostreicher, who called his case, in which 45 million pounds of rice was stolen from him, “the biggest heist in Bolivian history.”

We pray he will soon be back home with his wife and family. What tribulations he went through, she’lo neyda. We should also pray for the shvuyim who are suffering so much. Yohanatan ben Malka, Sholom Mordechai Halevi ben Rivka, just to name a couple of them.

It breaks my heart. May he be soon completely exhonerated and able to leave the country, and recover his money.
