A spokesman in Australia for the extreme Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir threatened to make Jews “pay with blood” in a sermon posted online earlier this month, the UK’s Daily Mail reported.

“They are the most evil creatures of Allah…More corruption is linked to the Jews,” Ismail al-Wahwah said in the video uploaded on March 3. “They will pay with blood for blood, with tears for tears, and with destruction for destruction.”

Al-Wahwah went on to say that recognizing the Jewish people and giving them “even a single inch of Palestine constitutes the epitome of evil because this will strengthen that cancerous entity.” He accused Israel of going “hand in hand with evil and disobedience” since its creation, and of founding prostitution, gambling and usury.

“There is only one solution for that cancerous tumor: It must be uprooted and thrown back to where it came from,” al-Wahwah said in the video.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, New South Wales (NSW) Communities Minister Victor Dominello called the video “deeply disturbing” and “hateful and derisive.” Dominello said the comments are an abuse of freedom of speech in Australia, and told News Corp, “[It] has no place in our harmonious multicultural society.”

Vic Alhadeff, chief executive for NSW’s Jewish Board of Deputies (JBOD), fears speeches like al-Wahwah’s may lead to local terror attacks. “This has nothing to do with Israel and is in the same vein of Islamic extremism and incitement that IS [Islamic State] peddles,” he said. “It’s another wake-up call for the authorities to act before these hate preachers inspire the next [Sydney Siege gunman] Man Monis.”

According to the Daily Mail, Hizb ut-Tahrir subsequently accused the JBOD of “falsely exploiting” the words of the Islamic group. Spokesperson Hamzah Qureshi told News Corp on Wednesday that comments made on behalf of the group should be evaluated in the “the context of an ongoing and bloody occupation of Palestine by the illegitimate Israeli army.”

The publication of the offensive video follows a complaint the JBOD filed with the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board in relation to comments al-Wahwah made last year calling Jews corrupt and a “hidden evil,” The Australian Jewish News reported.

JBOD president Jeremy Spinak further called on the Anti-Discrimination Board to help prosecute al-Wahwah and his fellow spokesperson Wassim Doureihi. “The speech incited hatred towards, serious contempt for, and severe ridicule of, Jews on the ground of them being Jewish,” Spinak wrote.
