During a night raid in the northern West Bank city of Nablus to search for weapons and other contraband held by Palestinian terrorists, Israeli security forces were surprised to find a baby deer in the home of a shepherd, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Monday.

According to the report, the two-month-old Bambi look-alike was being held illegally and neglected. The men who came upon the baby deer during their the house-to-house search – a joint operation of the IDF, civil administration, the Shin Bet and police – hurried to transfer the fawn to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, which will find it a place where it can be properly nursed to health. If and when its caretakers determine that the deer is strong enough, it will be released back into nature in the Palestinian-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank).
