freddie-gray2The Baltimore mayor’s office has approved a $6.4 million settlement in the civil lawsuit against the city by Freddie Gray’s family. The settlement was decided Tuesday by a five-member board controlled by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

“The payment is larger than the total the more than 120 other lawsuits brought against the police department for alleged brutality and misconduct since 2011,” the Baltimore Sun notes.

The settlement does not acknowledge wrongdoing by police.

Six officers will be tried separately for Gray’s death by an injury sustained in police custody. Read more at the Baltimore Sun.
