ocean-parkwayOcean Parkway malls in Midwood, Brooklyn, are getting a facelift, thanks to the efforts of City Council Member Simcha Felder, who represents Boro Park, Midwood and Bensonhurst.

Felder announced earlier this month that the project – to reconstruct a stretch of the Ocean Parkway mall between Avenues M and O – would be funded by his office.

The $1.35 million effort will include the reconstruction of pavement, improvements to benches and railings, freshly laid lawn areas and the restoration of an asphalt bike path – including new markings for pedestrians and cyclists.

“Thanks to the hard work of the Department of Parks and Recreation, local residents and passers-by can enjoy this beautiful outdoor space for years to come,” said Felder.

The work, which has already begun, is expected to be finished by late spring.

The Recreation and Parks Department is performing the work one segment at a time in order to limit the inconvenience to the public.
