belzer-rebbe-rav-ahaon-teitelbaum-satmar[Video and photos below.] Rav Aharon Teitelbaum of Satmar , who is currently in Eretz Yisroel to attend the wedding of his great-nephew, yesterday met his brother-in-law, the Belzer Rebbe, Rav Yissochor Dov Rokeach.

The historic meeting marks another step in the publicized reconciliation between Belz and Satmar undertaken by the Belzer Rebbe and Rav Aharon, who are both married to daughters of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak.

Rav Aharon traveled to Eretz Yisroel from his home in Kiryas Yoel, Monroe, to attend the wedding of a son of his nephew, Rav Chaim Tzvi Meisels, rosh yeshiva of the Satmar Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, earlier this week.

A month ago, as reported on Matzav.com, the Belzer Rebbe sent a delegation of ten dayanim, headed by his gabbai, to the kevorim of the Satmar admorim, the Divrei Yoel and the Berach Moshe, at the Kiryas Yoel bais hachaim in Monroe, New York. The dayanim said Tehillim, lit candles and asked mechilah in the name of the Belzer Rebbe, Rav Yissocohor Dov ben Miriam.

This request of mechilah paved the way to the historic reconciliation between the dynasties and the uplifting meeting yesterday, which took place at the Belzer Rebbe’s home in Telz-Stone. The meeting ended a disconnect of over thirty years.

A convoy of about 25 vehicles arrived the Belzer Rebbe’s home as Rav Aharon of Satmar was escorted by a large crowd of chassidim.

The Belzer Rebbe, who had been at his home in Kiryas Belz in Yerushalayim after spending two weeks resting at his home in Telz-Stone, returned to Telz-Stone for the meeting. Security was extremely high as many onlookers tried to gain access to the meeting and traffic was closed except to locals.

In attendance at the meeting was the Belzer Rebbe’s only son, Rav Aharon Mordechai Rokeach, and gabbaim.

The thirty-minute meeting took place shortly after 1 a.m.

After the meeting, the Belzer Rebbe accompanied Rav Aharon outside, with both utilizing umbrellas due to falling rain.

  1. Technically they are not brothers in law a brother on law is either a wife’s brother or a sister’s husband. A wife’s sister’s husband is not a brother in law (although it is commonly refereed to as one).
Also what brand if umbrella where they using?

  2. yankel. your statement is inappropriate and pickeyune. if the whole world uses the word brother-in-law why do you have to make a remark..all families should reunite in eretz yisrael like they did.

  3. From the Dictionary

    broth·er-in-law (brr-n-lô)
    n. pl. broth·ers-in-law (brrz-)
    1. The brother of one’s spouse.
    2. The husband of one’s sister.
    3. The husband of the sister of one’s spouse.

  4. #2 As ive said it is commonly referred to as “brother in law” including by the dictionary you quote. Although for future refrence you should quote the dictionary you used is it Oxford? Webster “The dictionary” is meaningless although it is commonly reffered to. Harper collins doenst have your third definition (although webster does)

  5. So I’m saying, eh, Whught? So your your saying wught dat webster is nisht cain mon de-omar? PUNKDT FARKERT!! since thats whught du oilom goes by it the right one “AL PI ROIV”! UND NUCH az mir veist az every language “AINO ELA HASKUMAS KOL UMAH V’UMAH so if the the KLULIOUS agreement is that bruder in law includes a vibes sisters husband. Then officially it is a shvugger whether in the dictionary or not.
