Bye bye, Ben.
Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who rose from political obscurity to a strong position in early polls last fall, has officially dropped out of the Republican presidential race today, Erev Shabbos, after a string of disappointing finishes on Super Tuesday.
Carson told the Conservative Political Action Conference that he is “leaving the campaign trail.”
Carson’s departure narrows the field of GOP contenders to four, including front-runner Donald Trump.
Trump is now the lone political outsider in the field, running alongside Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
