The medical personnel caring for Labor MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said today that his condition has gotten worse in the last 24 hours. He is not responding to medical treatment and as of this morning, he was under anesthesia and is on a respirator.
The spokesperson for Assaf HaRofeh Medical Center near Petach Tikva said that in order to assist MK Ben-Eliezer’s breathing, it was decided to sedate and put him on a breathing machine. His clinical condition continues to be stable and he is under supervision in the Intensive Care Unit.
Ben-Eliezer was hospitalized last Tuesday after contracting pneumonia. Dr. Benny Davidson, the Director of Assaf HaRofeh, said that it is not clear whether Ben-Eliezer’s pneumonia developed after he got the flu, but in any case, he ruled out H1N1 (“swine flu”).
