Two Palestinians driving a truck crashed through the main gateway to Ben Gurion international airport before dawn today and were stopped by guards’ gunfire before they reached the passenger terminal.
Emergency measures went into force at the airfield, all entries and exits blocked and air traffic suspended, until the two Palestinians were picked up and turned out to be car thieves from Jenin and Qalqilya – not terrorists. A police search found the truck empty.
More than 90,000 travelers were held up for some hours until flights returned to normal early this morning.
