bowe-bergdahl2After five years in captivity and six weeks of freedom, Bowe Bergdahl is still choosing not to speak with his parents. Bergdahl returned to active duty Monday at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

An anonymous Army official told the Wall Street Journal that Bergdahl refuses to talk to his parents when they call him, suggesting familial estrangement previously unbeknownst to the military.

His parents, especially his father Robert bergdahl, have been his biggest defenders in the face of criticism that the former private deserted and put fellow soldiers at risk. Bergdahl will soon meet with Maj. Gen. Kenneth Dahl, who is investigating the circumstances of his 2009 disappearance and capture. Read more at the Wall Street Journal.
