bernie-sanders1Vermont senator Bernie Sanders officially kicked off his presidential campaign with a festival-like event in Burlington, Vermont on  Tuesday.

The self-described Democratic socialist addressed income equality and the influence of Wall Street in his kickoff speech, saying, “To the billionaire class I say your greed has got to end. This great nation and its government belong to all of the people and not to a handful of billionaires, their super PACs and their lobbyists.”

Sanders did not mention his current Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, by name but, according to CNN, “much of his speech seemed a veiled argument that he, and not Clinton, after more than two decades in the rarefied air at the top of U.S. politics, understands the plight of the working and middle classes.”

Sanders currently trails behind Clinton by around 50 percent in most polls. Read more at CNN.

  1. I wrote Bernie a letter to which he never responded. If he doesn’t care to respond to a potential voter, he has lost the confidence of the people he wishes to serve. Out with him.
