clinton2Former President Bill Clinton dropped by “The View” on Wednesday and dismissed rumors that his wife had her eye on the White House.

“She wants to stay in one place for two or three days and get a good night’s sleep for a week or two,” he told the hosts of the ABC talk show about his wife of 36 years, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Clinton has said that she only planned to serve as the State Department chief for one term, leading many to wonder if she might have her eye on the Oval Office at some point in the future — rumors she has repeatedly denied.

“You have to take her at her word, she didn’t want to run the first time,” her husband said.

“She’s tired, she needs time off … I don’t know what the future holds. She doesn’t think she will ever run for office again,” he added.

The 65-year-old former president appeared on the show to discuss the state of the US economy and promote his latest book, “Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy.”

And though he was there to talk economics, the hosts of “The View” couldn’t help asking about his daughter Chelsea’s new gig on NBC News.

“I was surprised,” Clinton said about his daughter’s new job as a special correspondent at the Peacock Network.

“I knew she was thinking about it,” he continued, adding that Chelsea is teaching at Columbia University and is still involved in helping set up a New York University campus in the Middle East.

The 31-year-old will make her primetime debut on “Rock Center” December 12, reporting on a non-profit organization in her native Arkansas.

“I’m just plugging my kid,” Clinton joked about his pride over his daughter’s venture into journalism.
