Overnight, alleged bitcoin creator Craig Wright erased his website and replaced it with a three-paragraph note apologizing. “I believed that I could do this,” he wrote. “I believed that I could put the years of anonymity and hiding behind me. But, as the events of this week unfolded and I prepared to publish the proof of access to the earliest keys, I broke. I do not have the courage. I cannot.”
He said that he can’t handle the attacks on his qualifications and character that inevitably followed his public claim of being the cryptocurrency’s creator. “I know now that I am not strong enough for this,” he added. “I can only say I’m sorry.” Read more at Wired.
