Bumble Bee Foods will pay $6 million to settle criminal charges in a case involving the death of one of their workers in an oven. Jose Melena died in 2012 after being trapped in a 270-degree oven.
This is the largest payout in a workplace violation death case in California’s history, according to District Attorney Jackie Lacey.
The settlement includes a $1.5 million payment to the man’s family. Read more at NBC Los Angeles.
