Bloomberg: Obama Must Take ‘Immediate Action’ Against Guns…

Saturday December 15, 2012 6:22 PM - 11 Comments

bloombergNew York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an ardent gun control advocate, moved to politicize the monstrous school shooting in Connecticut, issuing the following statement:

With all the carnage from gun violence in our country, it’s still almost impossible to believe that a mass shooting in a kindergarten class could happen. It has come to that. Not even kindergarteners learning their A,B,Cs are safe. We heard after Columbine that it was too soon to talk about gun laws. We heard it after Virginia Tech. After Tucson and Aurora and Oak Creek. And now we are hearing it again. For every day we wait, 34 more people are murdered with guns. Today, many of them were five-year olds. President Obama rightly sent his heartfelt condolences to the families in Newtown. But the country needs him to send a bill to Congress to fix this problem. Calling for ‘meaningful action’ is not enough. We need immediate action. We have heard all the rhetoric before. What we have not seen is leadership - not from the White House and not from Congress. That must end today. This is a national tragedy and it demands a national response. My deepest sympathies are with the families of all those affected, and my determination to stop this madness is stronger than ever.

Gun laws won’t achieve anything posotive, so long violence continues to be so rampant on movies, TV and video games. Getting a gun in bed stuy is quite easy, although its illegal.

What we need are laws about TV. What we need is a culture change about violence. Well, once we have that, gun laws will be unneccassery.

more guns in law abiding citizens could prevent such crazy attacks. Criminals have all the guns they want, We need all decent citizens with guns to stop crazies who get guns anyway

if you have half a brain you will realize that these people get their guns ILLEGALLY so if you outlaw guns it wont help the same way people get drugs even though its illegal.
also if you had a gun the person might hesitate knowing that a person has a fully ; loaded gun on him.

Does the President have Secret Service protection - with guns? Does the Mayor have (unannounced) protection - with guns? Does the Governor have it (unannounced) with guns?
If we should lock up all the nuts who have guns, what about all those who voted for Obama and have guns?

Chicago has the most severe gun laws around and they have a very severe gun problem. It’s provent that when law abiding citizens have guns, gun crime is reduced. Bloomberg’s statements are counterproductive.

These guns are already outlawed in all of New England and New York City. In the rest of NY they require a permit from New York State. What more would you like to do, Bloomie? Maybe you ought to make murder against the law?

I’m guessing if you spent less time and money funding same-sex marriages and attacking bris milah, maybe you could focus your resources more productively.

There’s no such thing as “gun violence” there’s just plain violence. I think a mayor should be intelligent enough to realize that. I’m very disappointed in you.

I didn’t see you screaming about passing laws making it illegal to highjack airplanes or blow up buildings after over 4,000 people were killed in the WTC tragedy. Would that be politically unwise?

Don’t you think it’s a little disgraceful to try to capitalize on your political agenda in times of tragedy? New York deserves better than you.

Hey Mike! If your so concerned about little children being murdered by “guns”, why do you allow partial birth abortions in your City, which is a lot more horrific a murder???

absolutely ridiculous murderers will still be able to get guns, like addicts can get illegal banned substances all it will do is to deny people the right of protecting themselves, how about every teacher having an instant tranquilizer and knowing how to use it much more effective than gun control!
